Sudan's Rapid Response Force (RSF) is attempting to cover up a mass killing in the town of El Fasher by burying and burning the bodies, a Yale University research team has said.

The Rapid Response Force (RSF) has drawn international condemnation for mass killings and crimes against humanity it committed when militants took control of the town in October.

Now, according to an analysis of satellite imagery by Yale University’s Human Research Laboratory (HRL), the RSF has removed tens of thousands of bodies since capturing El Fasher.

The RSF has not responded to the report, but the leader of the militant group has previously acknowledged that its fighters have committed some violations in the city.

The Yale University research team said in its report that the Rapid Response Force "conducted a systematic campaign that lasted for weeks to destroy evidence of mass killings."

The report added that the group continued to burn bodies and make them inaccessible.

Fighting has been raging in Sudan since April 2023, due to a power struggle between the Sudanese government and the Sudanese army.

The United Nations has said the conflict has created the world's worst humanitarian crisis.
