Qatar Investment Authority (QIA) and J.P. Morgan Asset Management (JPMAM) have agreed to establish a 20 billion US dollar investment partnership spanning public equities and private markets.

The partnership, established through a memorandum of understanding, will initially divide the investment programme between a 15 billion US dollar public equities mandate and a 5 billion US dollar private markets initiative targeting established middle-market companies in the United States.

Under the public equities mandate, JPMAM will manage customised global equity portfolios for QIA, drawing on its active equity capabilities, global investment platform and research resources.

The private markets initiative will provide senior financing to US middle-market companies across industrials, services, healthcare and technology.

The arrangement brings together QIA’s long-term institutional investment approach and JPMAM’s investment capabilities across public and private markets.

“We are pleased to grow our partnership with J.P. Morgan Asset Management and gain access to one of the world’s leading global equity and private credit platforms,” Mohammed Saif Al-Sowaidi, CEO of QIA, said.

He said the partnership would involve investment dialogue, joint programmes and direct exchanges of ideas as the two institutions pursue new opportunities for long-term value creation.

Mary Callahan Erdoes, CEO of J.P. Morgan Asset and Wealth Management, said the initiative would draw on the firm’s global investment capabilities across public and private markets to provide customised solutions for QIA.

The agreement gives QIA exposure to global public equities and private US credit through a single strategic investment framework with JPMAM.
