Putin Says Russia Ready to Supply Oil to US, Global Markets

Russian President Vladimir Putin said Moscow is ready to supply oil and petroleum products to the United States and international markets, following a telephone conversation with US President Donald Trump on October 9.

In a statement released by the Kremlin, Putin said the two leaders discussed prospects for resolving the war in Ukraine, the situation surrounding Iran and aspects of bilateral relations.

The conversation also covered conditions in global energy markets, with Russia reaffirming its willingness to supply oil and petroleum products to the US and other markets. Putin said he believed such supplies would have a positive effect on the global economy.

The statement did not specify whether the discussion produced any new energy supply agreements or details on potential volumes, prices or delivery arrangements.

Putin and Trump also reaffirmed an agreement to maintain direct contact and continue cooperation between their administrations, security services and other agencies, according to the Kremlin.
