Prosperity Party Secures Bulk of Seats in 22 Approved Results

The National Electoral Board of Ethiopia has approved 22 election results across the country, with the Prosperity Party securing the bulk of the confirmed seats in both federal and regional contests.

In Oromia, the party won all nine regional council seats whose results were certified, alongside seven federal House of Peoples’ Representatives seats approved from the region.

In the Central Ethiopia region, three federal parliamentary seats were also confirmed, all going to Prosperity Party candidates.

The Somali region accounted for two regional council results, where the Prosperity Party secured seven of eight seats in the Dagabur constituency, while one seat went to Mahamud Hassan Hussein of the Ogaden National Liberation Front.

In the Kedida Gamela, two constituencies, Prosperity Party candidate Dr. Biruk Lambiso Wamisso was declared winner of a House of Peoples’ Representatives seat after receiving 41,159 votes out of 54,404 cast.

In the Amhara region, the Gozamen constituency result was approved with Prosperity Party candidate Tesfaw Gizachew Ayalew elected unopposed to the federal parliament.

The approvals form part of the latest batch of certified results as the electoral board continues formalising outcomes from recent elections.
