The European country of Poland said it shot down four of the 19 drones that violated its airspace during Russia's attack on Ukraine.

Poland's Prime Minister Donald Tusk said 19 of its drones had violated its airspace during Russia's offensive in eastern Ukraine.

Four drones were shot down by Polish and NATO air strikes, they said.

This is the first time Poland, a member of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO), has shot down Russian drones in its airspace since the Ukraine conflict began three years ago.

In a post on his X page, the Prime Minister stated that he informed Mark Rutte, the head of NATO, about the situation and the action taken by his country against those who violated its airspace. "We are still talking," he said.

The Prime Minister added that the operation is continuing and that he is talking to the head of NATO and that he will hold a special meeting with his cabinet.
