Pakistan has entered a “clear war” after a series of air strikes on the Afghan capital, its defence minister has said.

Minister Khawaja Muhammad Asif said “our patience has run out” after the attacks on Afghanistan.

The response came after the Afghan Taliban attacked Pakistani army posts near the border on Thursday night.

Pakistan has carried out airstrikes on targets in several Afghan cities, including the capital Kabul.

Similarly, the Afghan Taliban said they had struck several targets inside Pakistan on Friday morning. Government sources told the BBC that the attacks were carried out by drones.

Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has said his army is “capable of crushing any aggression” and will not hesitate to defend his country.

The two countries have clashed on several occasions, and a ceasefire agreement reached last October and talks to reach a permanent border agreement have failed to yield results.

Pakistan accuses Afghanistan of supporting “anti-Pakistan terrorists,” including a recent suicide attack on a mosque in the capital.
