Out of 290 Private Higher Education Institutions in the Capital, Only Three Maintain Their Licenses

The Education and Training Authority announced that out of 290 private higher education institutions registered for re-registration in the capital, only three met the requirements.

Hiwot Assefa, the Executive Director of Institutional Licensing at the Education and Training Authority, said that 290 institutions have registered out of a planned 375 institutions under the new re-registration review criteria for registering private higher education institutions.

They mentioned that the criteria were revised and a second round of evaluation was conducted, as no institution met the criteria in the first round of evaluation, which registered 290 institutions.

He stated that the institutions were given the opportunity to meet the minimum requirements by improving the 3rd round of requirements in order to continue their education system; he said that 3 institutions in Addis Ababa city, on 3 campuses, met the minimum requirements in 17 fields of study and their licenses were confirmed.
