SK Telecom plans to launch the first phase of a gigawatt-scale artificial intelligence cloud platform in 2027 using technology supplied by Nvidia, as the US chipmaker expands partnerships with major South Korean companies to support growing demand for AI infrastructure.

The initiative forms part of a wider group of agreements Nvidia unveiled during Chief Executive Jensen Huang’s visit to South Korea.

SK Hynix entered into a multi-year technology agreement with Nvidia focused on developing advanced memory products for global AI data centres.

The deal comes as semiconductor manufacturers face increasing pressure to supply high-performance memory chips required for large-scale artificial intelligence systems.

Nvidia also disclosed that Naver and Doosan would use its technology in AI data centre projects in South Korea, further deepening the company’s ties with the country’s technology and industrial sectors.

Doosan, which manufactures materials used in Nvidia’s Blackwell chips while also developing robotics technologies, said it expects its energy solutions to be integrated into Nvidia data centre platforms.
