Nigeria's President Bola Tinubu has secured the nomination of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) to seek a second and final four-year term. He won with an overwhelming majority in the party’s presidential primaries.

The results showed Tinubu receiving nearly 11 million votes, while his challenger Stanley Osifo secured about 16,500 votes. The primaries were held on Saturday after Osifo mounted a surprise challenge.

Tinubu is set to contest the next presidential election cycle after taking office in 2023. His administration has drawn attention from foreign investors following economic policy changes, including the removal of fuel and electricity subsidies.

Political dynamics ahead of the next election have shifted following the collapse of efforts by opposition parties to present a unified candidate against him earlier this month.

The decisive victory strengthens Tinubu’s position heading into the campaign period as he seeks re-election.
