Ukraine Creates Long-Range Strike Command to Target Russia’s War Capacity

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has established a new Long-Range Strike Command within the Armed Forces of Ukraine, aiming to expand the effectiveness of attacks designed to weaken Russia’s ability to sustain its war effort.

Zelenskyy said the newly created command would centralise available resources for long-range operations against Russia and would focus on reducing Moscow’s military capabilities.

The presidential decree said the command was created to enhance the effectiveness of long-range strikes and undermine the enemy’s military potential.

The move comes as Ukraine continues to develop long-range strike capabilities targeting Russian military infrastructure and other assets beyond the immediate battlefield.

Zelenskyy instructed Ukraine’s defence minister and commander-in-chief of the Armed Forces to submit a candidate to lead the new command.

He said the commander should have extensive experience and strong leadership capabilities.

The Ukrainian president said the command would be tasked with concentrating resources to further limit Russia’s capacity to continue its military operations.

The creation of the new command reflects Ukraine’s ongoing efforts to strengthen its strategic strike capabilities amid the prolonged conflict.

Officials believe the move will improve coordination and effectiveness of long-range operations against Russian targets.
