The House of Peoples’ Representatives has decided to grant the National Consultative Commission an additional eight months to complete its work.

It is recalled that the National Consultative Commission, which was established for a three-year term, was extended for one year in an emergency meeting of the House held under the same conditions last year.

The House of Peoples’ Representatives decided to extend the term for another eight months after listening to the Commission’s four-year work report in an emergency meeting held on February 18, 2026.

The work period has been extended from February 23, 2025, to mid-October of next year to complete the remaining work.

The National Consultative Commission, headed by Dr. Mesfin Araya, has been conducting consultations and agenda-setting activities both domestically and internationally.

However, the commission has requested additional time to gather the agenda and hold the consultative meeting in the Tigray region.
