Nairobi Considered as Host for Proposed Bloomberg Africa Business Conference

Nairobi is being considered as the host city for a proposed Bloomberg Africa Business Conference, following discussions between Kenyan officials and representatives from Bloomberg on a potential partnership. Kenya’s Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi said the talks focused on establishing the inaugural conference, which would bring together investors, business leaders and other stakeholders to discuss opportunities across the continent.

The discussions involved Ashish Verma, Bloomberg’s Global Head of Brand and Creative, Nicky Keefe, Head of Africa Partnerships, John Mwendwa, CEO of the Kenya Investment Authority, and Daniel Mainda, CEO of the Nairobi International Financial Centre Authority. Mudavadi said the initiative could support investment flows, job creation and innovation by creating a platform for businesses and entrepreneurs to connect with global investors.

He said Kenya’s political stability, strategic location and economic resilience have positioned the country as a potential gateway for investment into Africa. The proposed conference forms part of efforts to strengthen Nairobi’s role in regional finance, innovation and enterprise. The government has been promoting the city as a centre for international investment and financial services through institutions including the Nairobi International Financial Centre Authority.
