The family and lawyer of detained House of Peoples Representatives member Christian Tadele said that he is seriously ill.

Lawyer Solomon Gezahegn, who said he visited the Kilinto prison where he is being held, said that Ato Christian's illness has worsened due to his recent surgery.

A family member of Ato Christian Tadele said that Ato Christian underwent surgery at the mekrez Hospital months ago and was sent back to prison without adequate supervision, which led to his current situation.

He was a member of the House of People's Representatives representing the Amhara National Movement (ANM) and the chairman of the House's Standing Committee on Government Expenditure, Administration and Control.

Christian Tadele, who was arrested after the declaration of a state of emergency following the security breach in the Amhara region, has been in prison for the past two years, with his immunity from prosecution lifted.
