Residents and officials said that a kebele office has been burned in a new attack in Berber town, Benishangul Gumuz region, where the city administration office was burned by militants about three months ago.

Local residents and authorities blamed the attack in the city on the Oromo Liberation Front, a militant group operating in the neighboring Oromia region.

The head of the city's municipality, Ato Mengistu Yadesa, and two residents confirmed that militants attacked Berber, the capital of the Dbate district in the Tekle zone, at around 10:00 p.m. on Friday, October 10, 2025.

According to Ato Mengistu, the burned-down office contains the offices of the Berber Kebele Chief Administrator and the Police Chief, as well as the Prosperity Party office and the Social Court.

The head of the city's municipality, and a resident blamed the Oromo Liberation Army, whom they call "Shene," for the attack.
