Meta Platforms Inc. is reorganizing its artificial intelligence operations, splitting its newly formed AI division into four distinct teams and reassigning many existing employees in a bid to maximize the value of billions of dollars in recently acquired talent, according to an internal memo obtained by Bloomberg News.

The move is designed to accelerate Meta’s push toward so-called superintelligence, the memo from Alexandr Wang, former Scale AI chief executive and now Meta’s chief AI officer, indicates. Wang wrote that achieving superintelligence requires focused efforts across research, product development and the infrastructure that underpins AI technologies.

The reshuffle brings together the company’s large language model work, long-term research projects, consumer product applications, and the costly computing infrastructure needed to support these ambitions under a single umbrella, Meta Superintelligence Labs. Leadership includes Wang himself and former GitHub CEO Nat Friedman, reflecting the company’s focus on marrying technical expertise with product strategy.

Bloomberg reports that no layoffs are expected as part of the reorganization, underscoring Meta’s intent to retain talent while repositioning its AI resources for long-term strategic goals.
