On Sunday, a large crowd gathered in Tel Aviv's "Hostage" Square, where organizers said the Israeli government's planned invasion of Gaza would endanger the 20 hostages being held by Hamas.

As part of this nationwide strike, roads, offices, and universities in some areas have been closed. Around 40 people have been arrested in connection with this public protest.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu criticized the public protests, saying they "strengthen Hamas' position" and delay the release of the hostages.

Far-right Minister Bezalel Smotrich similarly condemned it, calling it "a harmful campaign that helps Hamas."
