Malawi's President Peter Mutharika has announced that primary and secondary education will be free in Malawi from the start of 2026.

This is also a great relief for Malaysian parents who have been struggling to educate their children due to the country's financial constraints.

President Mutharika, emphasized that education is key to national development and urged all parents to send their children to school to ensure that all school-age children have access to education.

"Education is now free in Malawi. No parent can now justify not sending their children to school. We want every parent to send their children to school. Because there is no development without education, we want our children to learn," said President Mutharika.

The president's move is aimed at addressing the problem of children's lack of access to education in Malawi due to lack of funding and enabling 5.5 million primary and secondary school students nationwide to receive free education.
