Mintesinot Niggusie

Madagascar and the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) have signed a five-year Partnership covering 2026 to 2030 to advance industrialisation and private sector development. The agreement was concluded in Vienna between UNIDO Director General Gerd Müller and Minister Ny Riana Nampoina Raharimanjato.

The programme introduces an integrated approach to align industrial policy and consolidate previously fragmented initiatives into a single government-led framework. It is designed to strengthen local value addition and enhance competitiveness.

Priorities include agro-industry, entrepreneurship, green energy, and skills development, with a specific focus on expanding opportunities for youth and women.

Müller said the partnership provides a structured mechanism to convert Madagascar’s industrial potential into measurable outcomes. Raharimanjato added that the framework signals a shift towards a more coordinated national industrial strategy.
