
In Mekelle city, Tigray region, residents told Addis Standard that kidnapping, arrests for ransom, looting, and a series of unexplained disappearances and disappearances have left them in fear.
It has been more than a week since Ato Filmon Gebrehiwot, a cameraman and owner of Filari Productions, went missing, and his whereabouts are still unknown.
Residents of Mekelle city say such incidents have been on the rise in recent months.
“The forces that were tasked with administering Tigray after the war, according to the Pretoria Agreement, have instead engaged in internal power struggles, instead of ensuring peace and security,” said 30-year-old Girmay Hafte, describing the situation as “a complete failure.”
