Kenya has partnered with Visa to enhance payment accessibility for domestic and international tourists and strengthen the country’s position as a global travel destination. Announced on September 8, 2025, the collaboration will provide the government and tourism operators with insights through Visa’s Government Insights Hub, a platform that tracks travel trends and consumer spending.

The initiative is designed to support sustainable growth in the tourism sector, helping operators anticipate demand, optimise services, and increase revenue. Tourism, a key contributor to Kenya’s economy, attracts visitors with its wildlife, scenic landscapes, and cultural heritage, and the partnership aims to convert recent recovery into lasting growth.

The move comes as Kenya seeks to accelerate tourism recovery following global disruptions, while leveraging its reputation for wildlife, culture, and adventure travel.

Officials said the programme will benefit both international and domestic travellers by improving payment convenience and security, while offering data-driven guidance for tourism planning and operations. Industry experts note that improved digital payment options are likely to encourage higher cross-border spending, reducing transactional barriers for international visitors.
