The Jubaland administration has accused the Somali federal government and security forces of being responsible for the recent clashes in Baldhawo district of the West Gedo region, which claimed the lives of several Jubaland soldiers and officers.
In a statement issued by the Jubaland Ministry of Information on Wednesday, the administration accused President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud and Gedo's security chief, Abdirashid Janan, of spreading violence and destabilizing the region.
Jubaland also revealed that the federal government has a plan designed to weaken or destroy the regional administration, Garowe Online reported.
The statement said: “The Government of Jubaland reaffirms its firm commitment to resisting attempts to dismantle the administration of Jubaland and the federal system of Somalia.”
The administration issued the statement following a recent government military offensive that drove Jubaland forces out of Baldhow town and surrounding areas. Federal authorities have called on remaining Jubaland troops in Gedo to surrender to the Somali National Army in order to restore peace to the region.
