JPMorganChase has deployed 5 billion US dollars in equity investments and financed or facilitated more than 230 billion US dollars in transactions during the first year of its 1.5 trillion US dollar Security and Resiliency Initiative, which targets industries and supply chains considered critical to economic resilience and national security.

The US financial group said the initiative, launched a year ago, supports investment in advanced manufacturing, defence, energy, strategic technologies and pharmaceutical production as governments and businesses seek to reduce supply chain vulnerabilities and meet rising energy demand.

The bank’s Strategic Investment Group committed 5 billion US dollars from the initiative’s initial 10 billion US dollar equity allocation, investing in companies at different stages of development. Its investments include businesses working on defence technologies, battery storage, automated manufacturing and emerging technologies.

The wider initiative has financed and facilitated more than 230 billion US dollars in transactions across five areas: supply chains and advanced manufacturing; defence and aerospace; energy security; strategic technologies; and pharmaceuticals and health technology.

According to JPMorganChase, the financing has supported defence manufacturers and their suppliers, investment in nuclear and geothermal energy, domestic production capacity for critical minerals and metals, and the development of artificial intelligence, cybersecurity and quantum computing. It has also supported efforts to strengthen the production and supply chains of essential medicines.

The initiative has expanded into Europe and Canada, reflecting the cross-border nature of strategic industries and supply chains. Nearly one-third of related activity during its first year took place outside the US, the bank said.

JPMorganChase has assembled a dedicated team of more than 35 professionals for the initiative, including 13 managing directors, supported by hundreds of bankers and other employees across the group.

Beyond financing, the initiative uses research and industry engagement to identify supply chain dependencies, workforce shortages and gaps that constrain investment. Since October 2025, the bank said it had mapped seven critical value chains to identify opportunities for investment and cooperation.

Its policy work focuses on defence procurement, industrial policy, workforce development, energy infrastructure and permitting reforms. The bank argues that more predictable procurement, access to skilled workers, reliable power and streamlined approval processes could help businesses expand production capacity.

The initiative has also supported public-private programmes and industry forums. In July, JPMorganChase announced 24 million US dollars in funding for Philadelphia’s shipbuilding and maritime manufacturing sector, targeting workforce training, supplier development and small-business growth.

In Michigan, the bank joined the state government and Ford in a public-private initiative aimed at strengthening manufacturers and supply chains while helping innovative suppliers expand production.

JPMorganChase Chairman and Chief Executive Jamie Dimon said investment in infrastructure, manufacturing, energy, defence and innovation was necessary to support economic prosperity and national security.
