Italy Bets on Ethiopia's Growing Property Market

Italy is stepping up its commercial engagement with Ethiopia’s construction and real estate sectors through the “Italian Smart Living 2026” forum.

The event brings together Italian companies and Ethiopian businesses to promote trade and investment in housing, urban development and hospitality projects.

State Minister Tazer Gebre-Egziabher described the forum as a strategic platform to strengthen commercial ties between the two countries.

Italian companies are showcasing furniture, lighting, ceramics, marble and sustainable construction materials.

The forum also features the launch of the Mercato Urban Regeneration Competition and design masterclasses.

Business-to-business meetings are expected to generate concrete partnerships in real estate and construction.

The three-day event runs until July 9 and reflects growing Italian interest in Ethiopia’s expanding property market.

Both sides see significant potential for long-term cooperation in urban development and modern infrastructure.
