Israeli commercial engagement in Ethiopia is currently spread across agriculture, technology and mining, with the Israeli Embassy in Addis Ababa reporting that about 180 investors are active in the country.

Alongside this investment presence, bilateral trade continues to move in both directions, with Ethiopia exporting teff, coffee and sesame to Israel while importing technology products and medical equipment in return.

Agriculture remains a visible area of activity for Israeli investors, particularly in modern farming practices such as drip irrigation systems used in and around Debre Zeit, as well as ventures in poultry production and fish farming, as reported by Ahadu Radio.

The embassy said its work also includes sharing updated information on Ethiopia’s investment environment with potential investors in Israel, as part of efforts to support further commercial engagement.

Teff exports to Israel hold a notable position in Ethiopia’s agricultural trade profile, supported by demand linked in part to an estimated 180,000 people of Ethiopian origin living in Israel who are among the grain’s main consumers.

Investment activity is not limited to agriculture, with Israeli participation also extending into technology and mining sectors, according to the embassy.

Israel’s ambassador to Ethiopia, Avraham Nigusse, said business cooperation between the two countries is strengthening, particularly in areas linked to investment and tourism.

The embassy characterised the broader relationship as one of expanding economic interaction, shaped by both trade flows and a growing investor presence across multiple sectors.
