Israel has warned Lebanon that it will target civilian infrastructure, including airports, if Hezbollah takes any part in a war between the United States and Iran, Reuters reported.

Two senior Lebanese officials told Reuters that Israel had conveyed its warning indirectly.

Lebanese Foreign Minister Youssef Raji, speaking to reporters in Geneva, expressed concern that Hezbollah could be drawn into a new conflict with Israel if it were to take part in a war between the United States and Iran.

The foreign minister has warned Iran-backed Hezbollah not to take part in any confrontation between Washington and Tehran, the Associated Press reported.

The Lebanese government's call comes amid concerns that the United States could launch an attack on Iran. A second US aircraft carrier is approaching the Middle East, and Iran has begun its annual military exercises with Russia.

US President Donald Trump has warned that his country is prepared for war if a nuclear deal with Iran is not reached.

Lebanon's Hezbollah has fought several wars with Israel, including in Europe in 2024. Lebanese officials, concerned that the group could become involved in the US and Iran, have reportedly asked Hezbollah not to respond in a way that could "cause a bad situation" for its citizens, Foreign Minister Raji said.

Speaking at a meeting of the United Nations Human Rights Council in Geneva, the foreign minister said: "Signs have reached Lebanon that the Israelis are planning to strike civilian infrastructure, possibly the airport in Beirut."
