Israeli media reported that an Eritrean who entered Israel illegally and was known to support the Eritrean government has been deported to his country.

This is reportedly the first time Israel has deported an Eritrean citizen who is a supporter of the government.

The Eritrean father of one entered Israel in August 2011 and has lived there for the past 14 years.

The man, whose name has not been publicly released, was detained by the Israeli police for being in possession of a firearm.

In April 2025, the Border Patrol Police took him to court to be tried.

In addition to being found in possession of a firearm, the man is also suspected of being divorced from his partner and of making threats and intimidation to his family.

On Monday morning, Israeli immigration officials put him on a plane to Asmara.
