Trump's warning that the United States will intervene if the death toll from the protests in Iran, which have been going on for almost a week, continues, has drawn a warning response from the Iranian government.

A top adviser to Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei has warned that a major crisis in the Middle East will occur if the United States attempts to interfere in Iranian affairs.

At least six people have been reported killed by security forces as of Thursday amid ongoing protests in various parts of Iran over the worsening economic situation

Following this, Trump angered Iran by writing on Twitter, "If Iran's leaders continue to shoot peaceful protesters, as they have done, the United States will intervene to protect them."

Ali Larijani, a top adviser to the Iranian leader, immediately responded to Trump's threat, saying any US intervention would destabilize the region.
