Iran says it has reached an agreement with the United States on “basic principles” regarding its nuclear program.

After the two countries held indirect talks in Geneva, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said they had reached an agreement on “basic principles” regarding the nuclear program. The United States said “progress has been made in the talks.”

Omani Foreign Minister Badr Al-Busadi said “good progress has been made in identifying common goals and addressing technical issues.”

The United States has been threatening military action following the Iranian government's crackdown on dissent.

The United States and its European allies have accused Iran of seeking to develop nuclear weapons, a charge Tehran has repeatedly denied.

The nuclear issue is a key point of contention between the United States and Iran.

“There are still a lot of details to discuss, even if there is progress,” a US official told the BBC about the talks. “The Iranians have said they will come back with proposals in the next two weeks on the points where we differ,” he told the BBC.

US Vice President JD Vance said, “The talks have gone well on some issues. There are some red lines that the president has identified that the Iranians have not yet accepted,” he told Fox News.
