At least 35 people have died in ongoing protests across Iran, activists reported on Tuesday, as demonstrations show no signs of abating. The U.S.-based Human Rights Activists News Agency (HRANA) said more than 1,200 individuals have been arrested since the unrest began over a week ago.

According to HRANA, the fatalities include 29 protesters—among them four children—and two members of Iran’s security forces. The protests have now reached over 250 locations in 27 of the country’s 31 provinces, highlighting the widespread scale of the unrest.

Semiofficial Iranian media reported that security personnel have also suffered significant injuries. Fars news agency, which is linked to the Revolutionary Guard, said that around 250 police officers and 45 members of the Guard’s volunteer Basij force were hurt during the demonstrations.

Tensions have drawn international attention. On Friday, U.S. President Donald Trump warned that the United States “will intervene to assist” if Iran responds violently to peaceful demonstrators, raising the possibility of external involvement amid the crisis.
