On Tuesday, the president of Iran announced that he has directed the nation’s foreign minister to engage in "fair and equitable negotiations" with the United States.

These remarks from reformist President Masoud Pezeshkian mark the first definitive indication from Iran regarding its potential participation in negotiations being facilitated by Turkey.

Pezeshkian shared these comments on X. "I have instructed my Minister of Foreign Affairs, contingent upon the existence of a suitable environment one devoid of threats and unreasonable expectations to pursue fair and equitable negotiations, adhering to the principles of dignity, prudence, and expediency," he stated.

The United States has not yet confirmed that the discussions will occur.

Iran has been noted for its response to the recent developments, whether positive or negative, as it has been indicated that it will provide a proportional reply.

Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi has stated that Iran will respond to the sanctions and discussions imposed by the United States, emphasizing that it will not remain passive in the face of these challenges.

"In response to those who engage with us, we will reciprocate with respect. For those who threaten us, we will respond in kind. We are prepared for diplomacy; however, diplomacy does not coexist with threats and pressure. Diplomacy has its own path," he remarked.
