Iran Calls US Naval Pressure on Ports “Intolerable” as Tensions Escalate

Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian has described US naval pressure on Iranian ports as an “extension of military operations”, calling the move “intolerable” and warning of rising risks in already strained relations with Washington.

The remarks come amid heightened regional tensions, with US President Donald Trump saying the administration “might need” to restart war with Iran. He also said “nobody knows what the talks are except myself and a couple of other people”, adding further ambiguity around any diplomatic channel between the two sides.

In Tehran, Iran’s semi official Tasnim News Agency reported that air defence systems were activated in response to what it described as small aircraft and reconnaissance drones operating in the vicinity of the capital.

The developments add to an already volatile regional backdrop, where military activity and political signalling continue to overlap across multiple fronts.
