The International Criminal Court (ICC) has strongly condemned the new sanctions imposed by the United States on its judges and prosecutors.

The United States State Department announced new sanctions against two ICC judges and two prosecutors over their efforts to prosecute American and Israeli citizens.

Secretary of State Marco Rubio accused the ICC of posing a "national security threat" to the United States and Israel and of using it "as a tool to undermine the rule of law."

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu praised the US move.

The ICC has issued arrest warrants for Netanyahu and former Defense Minister Yoav Galant for war crimes and crimes against humanity committed during Israel's war in Gaza.
