Hibret Bank has launched construction of a new building near its headquarters in Ethiopia, with the development set to accommodate residential apartments, shops, offices and other service facilities.

The bank laid the foundation stone for the project on Tuesday at a site adjacent to its existing headquarters.

Mesfin Tesema, chairman of the bank’s board of directors, said the project was part of the bank’s efforts to implement a revised strategy and achieve its long-term vision.

He said the launch without unnecessary delays demonstrated progress in the bank’s ongoing strategic review, adding that Hibret aimed to build on its years of experience, modernise its services and strengthen its position in the financial sector.

Zafu Yesuswork Zafu, who laid the foundation stone, praised the bank’s transformation efforts and expressed optimism about its future.

According to a presentation by Eskinder Architects, the project’s designer, the building will cover 3,255 square metres and include parking facilities. It is planned to house apartments, retail outlets, offices and other service facilities.
