Where medical professionals and their families working in health facilities in their jurisdictions can receive free treatment.

The ministry also announced that health institutions will provide transportation services to medical professionals during their work hours, "using their own vehicles."

While the Ethiopian Health Professionals Movement welcomed the decisions as a "good start," it raised questions about how the proposed amendments could be effectively implemented.

Minister of Health Dr. Mekdes Daba announced certain "benefit packages" to be implemented in a letter he wrote to regional governments and city administrations last week, Monday, August 20, 2025.
