Hamas said on Wednesday it had handed over the bodies of two more hostages, but said it needed more time and modern equipment to recover the bodies of others from the rubble in Gaza.

In a statement, the group's military wing said it was committed to the peace agreement and that it had only been able to hand over the bodies of the hostages it had been able to reach so far.

US President Donald Trump has said that Israel could continue its military campaign in Gaza if Hamas does not comply with the agreement.

The Israeli Prime Minister's Office, for its part, said that the Red Cross had received the bodies of the hostages, but that the work of identifying them remained.

The Israeli military called on the public to be patient and said that "the identity of the hostages will be confirmed and their families will be notified first."

Senior US advisers, who gave a statement on the status of the 20-point peace plan, said that so far the United States does not believe that Hamas has violated the ceasefire by failing to fully hand over the bodies of the dead hostages.
