More than 100 people were admitted to hospitals on Wednesday with gunshot injuries amid ongoing clashes in Ethiopia’s Gambella region, the international medical organisation Doctors Without Borders (MSF) reported.

Dozens have reportedly died in the more than two-week-long conflict, according to MSF, which warned that casualty numbers could rise if the fighting continues. The group has provided medical services to refugees in Gambella since 2014.

In response to the unrest, the Gambella Regional Government imposed a curfew from 2pm to 12am in areas considered at risk, effective December 25, 2025. The government’s statement did not provide further details on the security situation.
