Guinea’s electoral authority has confirmed that parties aligned with President Mamady Doumbouya have secured at least 100 seats in the 147-member National Assembly, giving the governing coalition a clear majority based on provisional results.

The legislative elections were held alongside communal votes for local government bodies, with turnout recorded at 52.87 percent for parliamentary contests.

Political organisations linked to former President Alpha Condé, along with parties associated with opposition figures Cellou Dalein Diallo and Sidya Touré, did not participate after being dissolved prior to the vote.

Cellou Dalein Diallo, who is currently in exile, had earlier called for “direct resistance” following the dissolution of opposition parties.

Aminata Touré, the top election official, said political parties have eight days to challenge individual results before judicial bodies review any disputes.
