Sappan KC Hum, founder of the Global Peace 2030 initiative, has offered to mediate talks between Ethiopia and Sudan and support peace negotiations within both countries, amid continued fighting and rising tensions along their shared border.

In a peace appeal, Hum called on the two governments to resolve their differences through dialogue, refrain from supporting armed groups fighting against each other and settle border disputes peacefully.

"The people of Ethiopia and Sudan have suffered enough," he said, calling for an end to fighting in both countries, including Sudan's Blue Nile State. He condemned the killing of civilians and destruction of homes.

Hum also appealed to armed groups involved in the conflicts to stop attacks, lay down their weapons and engage in peace talks. He said the grievances and disagreements among the parties should be addressed through dialogue rather than further violence.

The appeal urged both governments and armed groups to protect civilians and allow humanitarian assistance to reach people in need. It also called on external countries to stop supporting armed violence and contribute to efforts to end the conflicts.

Through the Global Peace 2030 initiative, Hum said he was prepared to facilitate talks between Ethiopia and Sudan, as well as support peace negotiations within each country, if the parties agreed.

The initiative aims to promote lasting peace in both countries and advance the declaration of "Peaceful Nations". The statement did not indicate whether either government or any of the armed groups had responded to the mediation offer.
