An international organization tasked with overseeing the Gaza Strip during the next phase of a U.S.-mediated ceasefire is expected to be announced by the end of the year, according to an Arab official and a Western diplomat on Friday.

Under the terms of the ceasefire, a governing body known as the Board of Peace, led by U.S. President Donald Trump, will supervise Gaza’s reconstruction under a two-year renewable United Nations mandate. The board is expected to include around a dozen leaders from the Middle East and Western countries, the officials said on condition of anonymity.

A committee of Palestinian technocrats will also be established to manage Gaza’s daily administration in the post-conflict period. The announcement is anticipated to coincide with Trump’s upcoming meeting with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu later this month, the Western diplomat added.

The ceasefire agreement also provides for an armed International Stabilization Force, charged with maintaining security and facilitating the disarmament of Hamas, a key requirement from Israel. Discussions over the participating nations are ongoing, though deployment is expected to begin in the first quarter of 2026, the Arab official said.

Observers say the planned governance and security arrangements mark a significant step in implementing Trump’s 20-point strategy for Gaza, following Israel’s two-year military campaign against Hamas.
