Getachew Reda Accuses TPLF Leadership of Preparing for Renewed Conflict

Getachew Reda, former president of the Tigray interim administration, has accused the leadership of the Tigray People's Liberation Front of preparing for a new round of conflict, raising concerns over renewed instability in the region.

In a statement shared on social media, Getachew cited remarks attributed to TPLF central committee member Addis Alem Balema, who he said told members of the diaspora that the group was coordinating with other armed actors and the Eritrean government in preparation for possible hostilities.

He also alleged that the group had secured permission from the Sudanese authorities to use port facilities, describing the reported move as a clear political provocation.

Getachew warned that any renewed fighting in Tigray would have severe consequences, potentially damaging what remains of the region's socio-economic infrastructure following the previous conflict.

He urged TPLF leaders to shift their focus away from military mobilisation and towards reconstruction and recovery efforts in the region.

The TPLF has not publicly responded to the allegations.
