Doctors at the only hospital operating in Gaza said they were overwhelmed by the lack of medical resources and inadequate conditions to treat people wounded in the Israeli attack.

An Australian volunteer doctor at Al Shifa Hospital told the BBC that many people are dying every day.

He explained the gravity of the situation by describing how he saved the life of a newborn baby from a pregnant mother who had recently passed away.

Israeli forces are expanding their ground operations to completely capture Gaza City, which they say is a Hamas stronghold, and are reportedly within 500 meters of the hospital.

Witnesses said tanks were advancing from the southern and northwestern parts of the city toward the city center.

Israeli airstrikes, heavy weapons, drones, and explosive-laden vehicles are driving tens of thousands of Palestinians from their homes every day.
