The US-Israeli-led Gaza Humanitarian Facility (GHF) has announced the suspension of its operations, six months after it began providing aid in the territory.

The agency halted activities at three distribution points in Gaza following a ceasefire agreement between Israel and Hamas. Its operations had drawn criticism from the United Nations and other international aid organizations, which questioned the agency’s professionalism, security measures, and adherence to humanitarian ethics.

Reports indicate that hundreds of Palestinians were killed while waiting near GHF aid stations. The UN said most casualties resulted from warning shots fired by Israeli forces.

In a statement, the agency cited “failure to provide urgent assistance” as the reason for halting its work. During its six months of operations, GHF distributed an estimated three million aid packages, containing 187 million food items, to residents of Gaza.
