FedEx Sues for Full Refund of Trump-Era Tariffs After Supreme Court Ruling

FedEx has filed a lawsuit against the U.S. government seeking a full refund of tariffs it paid under former President Donald Trump’s trade policies after the U.S. Supreme Court ruled those tariffs illegal. The company’s complaint, filed in the U.S. Court of International Trade, asks for repayment plus interest and argues that Trump exceeded his authority by imposing the duties under emergency powers.

FedEx joins more than 1,000 other companies, including major firms like Costco and Revlon, in seeking reimbursements for tariffs collected under the now-invalidated tariff regime.

The court’s decision left open the question of how refunds should be handled, prompting a wave of lawsuits as businesses seek to recoup billions in costs. Industry groups say prompt refunds could help companies reinvest, while questions remain about the timeline and legal process for repayment.
