The Ethiopian Citizens for Social Justice Party (EZEMA) has accused the ruling Prosperity Party of "forcing government employees to become party members against their will through various pressures."

In a statement issued today by the party, the ruling party has seized control of the media outlets with high reach, except for the first years of change before the 2013 elections, government's use of government resources to conduct other party activities, a lack of understanding of the principle that the government and the party are separate.

It added that in recent times, the information we have received shows that government employees are being pressured to become members by using various means against their will.

Ezema said, "This action indicates that the ruling party lacks confidence in its ability to sell its ideas and gain acceptance, and that the party leaders who have been given government responsibilities are abusing their power."
