Taye Dendea, former State Minister of Peace and Oromia Regional State Council member faces three new charges ahead of his sentencing, legal representatives confirmed on Monday, November 25, 2025.

The development follows a series of convictions and acquittals in Taye’s ongoing legal battles. The Federal High Court last week found him guilty on three counts of violating the Arms Act, while the court earlier acquitted him of two of the three original charges brought by the prosecution.

The newly filed charges allege that Taye engaged in “inciting unrest and violence, and attempting to overthrow a legitimately elected government by force,” “spreading false and misleading information against the defence forces,” and “treason.”

The court has set December 4, 2025, to hear sentencing arguments from both the prosecution and the defence, a proceeding likely to draw close attention given Taye’s high-profile political role in Oromia.
