
The Federal High Court, Lideta Division 1st Corruption Cases Bench, handed down life sentences to two former high-ranking leaders of the Immigration and Citizenship Service for abusing their authority.
The first defendant, Tamiru Tsengbeto, who served as Deputy Director General of the Registration and Control Sector, and the second defendant, Jillalu Bedru, Director of Foreigners Control and Consular Affairs, were charged with violating Article 9(1)(a) of Proclamation No. 881/2007, which addresses corruption offenses.
Based on documentary evidence, the Federal High Court, Lideta Division 1st Corruption Cases Chamber, sentenced the defendants to 8 years of rigorous imprisonment and a fine of 1,000 birr, while the second defendant, Jillalu Bedru, received 4 years of rigorous imprisonment.
