The former top legal adviser to the Israeli army was arrested following political tensions over a leaked video showing the horrific torture of Palestinian prisoners.

Major General Yifat Tomer Yerushalmi resigned from the Israel Defense Forces last week, where he was serving as legal advisor, saying, "I take full responsibility for the leaked video."

Following her resignation, Defense Minister Katz condemned her actions.

"Anyone who insults the soldiers of the Israel Defense Forces is unfit to wear the uniform of the army," Katz said.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu echoed the defense minister's sentiments, saying that "the Jerusalem issue is the worst public relations attack since the founding of Israel."

Hours after he said this, the disappearance of General Tomer Yerushalmi was reported in Israeli media, raising concerns that this could lead to another tragic incident.

A massive search was launched, and police announced that they were found "safe and in good health" several hours later in the coastal city of Herzliya.
