Etihad Airways has begun daily flights between Abu Dhabi and Addis Ababa, enhancing direct links between the United Arab Emirates and Ethiopia and expanding East Africa’s aviation network.

The inaugural flight landed at Bole International Airport midday, attended by Etihad chief executive Antonoaldo Neves and Ethiopian Airlines chief executive Mesfin Tasew, alongside government officials. Mesfin described the partnership as “truly unique,” emphasising closer cooperation between the two carriers.

The launch follows an agreement to coordinate operations and integrate networks, enabling better-aligned schedules and streamlined connections for passengers. Neves said the collaboration aims to strengthen operational efficiency and broaden travel options, while Mesfin highlighted that the partnership represents a “distinct and strategic” engagement beyond Ethiopian Airlines’ existing international alliances.

The service is scheduled to operate daily, providing direct connectivity between the United Arab Emirates and Ethiopia. Both airlines have confirmed that the route is part of ongoing efforts to enhance bilateral aviation links and international connectivity.
