Ethiopia’s ruling Prosperity Party has secured 438 seats in the House of Peoples’ Representatives, according to results announced by the National Election Board of Ethiopia, giving the party enough support to form the next federal government.

The results announced by the election board show that Prosperity won the majority of declared parliamentary seats, maintaining control of the legislature. Voting did not take place in 38 constituencies in the Tigray region, leaving those seats outside the announced results.

Opposition parties and independent candidates secured the remaining declared seats. The Ethiopian Citizens for Social Justice (Ezema) won 13 seats, while independent candidates secured eight seats.

The National Movement of Amhara (NaMA) obtained six seats, while several smaller parties won representation, including the Amhara Democratic Force Movement, the Ethiopian Federal Democratic Unity Forum, and the Freedom and Equality Party, each securing three seats.
