The Addis Ababa Chamber of Commerce and Sectoral Associations has appointed Kassahun Mamo and Jemal Seid as deputy secretary generals, effective February 20, 2026, in a change to the senior leadership of Ethiopia’s oldest business membership body.

Kassahun was named Deputy Secretary General for Business Development and Advocacy. He has served the chamber for 11 years, most recently as director of communication and advocacy, and manager of corporate communication, external relations and promotion.

Before joining the chamber, Kassahun worked as a senior business and economics editor at Ethiopian Broadcasting Corporation. He also lectured in urban and development economics at Addis Ababa University’s Ethiopian Institute of Architecture, Building Construction and City Development for about six years. He earned a master’s degree in development studies from Addis Ababa University in 2009.

Jemal has been appointed Deputy Secretary General for Membership and Institutional Development. He previously served as chief executive officer and deputy chief executive officer in several private companies and held academic positions as dean and lecturer at higher education institutions. He studied accounting and holds a master’s degree in development studies from Mekelle University.

Established in 1947, the chamber represents businesses across sectors and provides business development and advocacy services, while engaging government institutions on regulatory and policy issues affecting the private sector. It is also a member of the World Chambers Federation.
